Going Places

It’s Spreading

Nobody told me this part would happen.

I wrote the book. Packed the boxes. Posted the links. Did the work. And then, in the weeks that followed, it started moving on its own. The Campfire Method is showing up in conversations I wasn’t part of, landing on doorsteps I never shipped to, making its way into hands I’ve never shaken.

I’m genuinely surprised. And I’m filled with immense pride from realizing it’s going somewhere without me.

I’d like to take a minute to introduce you to some of the people carrying it.

Five Voices From Around the Fire

Mark Callahan — Portfolio Manager, Aptus Capital Advisors

Mark and I go back to high school. He was my college roommate. He knows exactly how long I’ve been working on this, and he knows me well enough that I’d never ask him to buy it. He bought it anyway. No nudging. No gift box on the doorstep. He just went and got it. I found out after the fact.

That one lands differently than a five-star review from a stranger. Mark is one of so many family and friends supporting this book as it finds its place in the world.

Mark, you look regal and contemplative. Thank you!

Cody Sutton — CEO, Guide Energy Solutions

Cody came home from a family trip to Disney to find a gift box waiting. He texted me immediately: “Cannot wait to read through this and study it like the playbook that I am sure it is.”

He called it a playbook before he’d read a word. I’ve spent years trying to articulate what this book is. Cody did it in a text, from his driveway, after a week at Disney World.

Enjoy those s’mores, Cody!

Dave — Amazon Review

“If you are someone who needs to not just communicate but connect with an audience (whether one or many) this book is for you. Especially if you’ve ever had a conversation or presentation and thought it didn’t go as well as you thought it would.”

Dave bought the book looking for communication tips. He found a framework for human connection. That gap, between what people expect and what they find, is everything to me.

Dave is learning new ways to connect, not just communicate.

Meg — Amazon Review

“This isn’t a book you’ll knock out in an afternoon. It’s more of a ‘read a chapter, sit with it, try something, come back’ kind of book. I found myself underlining things and then putting it down for a few days to think.”

That’s exactly the behavior the book was designed to create. Meg didn’t know that. She just described it from the inside.

Meg is taking her time with it.

David — Amazon Review, the Netherlands

Title of his review: “Market your ideas.”

“Interesting insights to get your ideas into the world. Beyond using slide decks and using story to get your idea across and acted upon.”

Three words as a title. From across the Atlantic. From someone I’ll never meet, in a country I’ve never visited, who found something in these pages worth naming.

I don’t have a better definition of reach than that.

David is experimenting with new ways to get his ideas into the world.

Fire is a Magnet

A campfire doesn’t go looking for people. It just burns. And if it burns well enough, bright enough, people find their way to it. From the next room, from the next city, from the Netherlands.

That’s what’s happening. And I’m grateful to every reader who picked it up, passed it on, underlined something and sat with it for a few days. You’re the ones keeping it alive.

If you’ve got the book and it’s done something for you, I’d love to hear how. A review on Amazon helps the fire spread to people neither of us know yet. Leave yours here.

And if someone in your world has ideas that deserve a better shot at landing, forward this their way. They’ll gather ‘round when they’re ready.
